About Ramen Nagi

Founded in 2004 by Chef Satoshi Ikuta, Ramen Nagi is the award-winning, cool and hip Japanese noodle shop that bucks the traditional trend while focusing on delicious authentic tonkotsu ramen. Ramen Nagi is known for its perfect noodles and both traditional and fusion broth flavors and has gained popularity all throughout Asia and the US.

Ramen Nagi is a ramen in Palo Alto, California. It is listed at 541 Bryant St, Palo Alto, CA 94301, which places it among the local businesses of Palo Alto that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as japanese restaurant, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Palo Alto, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. The most common schedule is 11 am–2:30 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Customers rate it 4.6 out of 5 on Google across 3,537 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded ramen in Palo Alto.

Palo Alto is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Palo Alto follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

If you’re vegetarian, here’s something to know before visiting Ramen Nagi: the thin noodles contain egg, so ask for the thick noodles if you avoid eggs. They currently offer one vegetarian and one vegan ramen option. The wait can be long, but the broth is flavorful and the overall experience is worth trying if you’re prepared for the queue.

Update after another visit in late June: I came back with a friend, but unfortunately this visit left both of us feeling really uncomfortable. The male server who helped us was extremely cold and dismissive. I can’t say what his intentions were, but the way he interacted with us honestly made us wonder whether we were being treated differently as Asian customers. There was almost no basic communication or acknowledgment during the meal When he brought the ramen over, he didn’t say anything like “excuse me” or let us know he was placing hot bowls down. He simply called out “Behind!” in a sharp tone, almost as if we were the ones expected to stay out of his way and accommodate him. I understand that restaurant staff use “behind” for safety, so the word itself wasn’t the issue. It was the tone and the complete lack of hospitality around it The appetizer experience was even more uncomfortable. He casually placed the plate on top of the tissue box that was already sitting on our table, didn’t say a single word, and immediately walked away. The whole interaction felt so cold and intimidating that we almost felt like we had to say “thank you” just to keep the situation from becoming m

An Unforgettable Ramen Experience! We had a wonderful visit to Ramen Nagi and left thoroughly impressed! We started with Karaage Chicken and Snack Gyoza as side sides - both delicious and a great way to kick off the meal. For mains, we tried two ramen dishes, the Veggie King Ramen featuring mushrooms, spinach, and a beautifully rich, velvety broth made from cauliflower, served alongside crispy hash browns, and the Veggie King Ramen Dry, tossed in a delicious sesame and beetroot paste. Both bowls were incredibly flavorful, satisfying, and wonderfully filling. What really made the experience stand out was the warmth of the staff. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to walk us through how each dish was crafted, which we really appreciated. The ambience added the perfect finishing touch, making the whole meal feel like a treat from start to finish. Ramen Nagi has absolutely earned a permanent spot on our must-visit list. Highly recommended and we will definitely be back! 🍜

Came on a rainy Saturday at 5 pm, took us less than 10 minutes to be seated. Wonderful typical Japanese ramen restaurant vibe with the speedy order before you get seated to your table. Squid ink soup is the most popular and a must try. Eggs are optional add on for about $2 which made it seem a bit on the pricey side. But hey, what’s a Japanese ramen with a half boiled marinade egg? This is the rare ramen restaurant in the Bay Area that gives you the option to choose soft or firm noodle and you also get to choose the amount of garlic added to your ramen. I always prefer everything to be regular. The help yourself free black pepper pickled bean sprouts was a highlight, my husband finished half of jar of it. For those who had squid ink pasta before, you knew it will always make your lips and teeth look black afterwards. However, we didn’t have this problem with the squid ink soup. It was an overall unique flavor and we would definitely come back next time.

I can confidently say this is my current favorite ramen spot in the Bay Area! Shoutout to our host David for being super accommodating, patient, and sharing with us the history of Ramen Nagi. There is decent seating, but when I went there was a line before opening and a bigger line at rush hour lunch. I recommend either going early or going off-hours so you don't have to wait too long! The staff is extremely friendly and helpful, the food is amazing, and the atmosphere of the restaurant feels like you're at a ramen shop and it's super clean. What I really like about this place is that you can custom your ramen, from thin or thick noodles to broth thickness, salt and garlic strength and more. You can also do add-ons as well. One thing I want to add is they definitely don't skimp out on the meat, which a lot of shops do. 1. Original King - Tonkotsu: Super flavorful, perfect thickness, and you can tell it's been cooked for a long time. The thick noodles goes so perfectly with it, and I love how the meat is super fatty. 2. Red King - Spicy: My boyfriend got this and he really enjoyed it! It was spicy and had good flavor. 3. Pan-fried Gyoza: this is a MUST! Apparently it's extremely
